Colbert against gay marriage
Reply Ken Temple September 22, at pm Thanks for pointing this out. After I watched it on You Tube — there were others on the side that were very good. Ted Cruz did an excellent job in the hour long interview with Katie Couric — that was the first one I have ever seen that allowed enough time for him to answer everything. I was very impressed with Cruz and Katie was stumped.

Besides use slurs for trans women over and over and over again, he's picked the trans community as his socially acceptable punching bag for years. The closest he has come to actually apologizing is after making a joke about growth hormones being used in cows, that he is sorry to offend "transgender bovine viewers". Its pretty confusing that that has been left out. In any case, a somewhat full list is here. He's Bill Maher bad when it comes to talking about trans people. Aren't we all.

Colbert and Cruz talk about running for president, Donald Trump, gay marriage, and Ronald Reagan compromising on immigration and taxes. Colbert continually pressed the candidate if raising taxes and amnesty for illegal immigrants is something he could agree with. When gay marriage came out, Cruz explained to Colbert how it is a state issue, citing the Tenth Amendment. Reagan actually had an amnesty program for illegal immigrants.
The host may have shed his uber-conservative persona, but he still has the chops to ask smart tough questions to his political guests. The latest politician in the hot seat was Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, and things got weird Monday as Cruz got booed on The Late Show during a tense debate over gay marriage. Cruz was laying out the key pillars of his platform — "live within our means, stop bankrupting our kids and grandkids, and follow the Constitution" — when Colbert interrupted, "And no gay marriage," taking a punch at Cruz's continued campaign against the Supreme Court's landmark ruling legalizing same-sex marriage. Cruz's insistence that the issue of gay marriage should have been left to the states elicited boos from the audience.
